Rallye Sudety

Rallye Sudety is one of the first mountain bike marathons in the Czech Republic, conceived and organised in September 1995 by Jarda Soumar, an enthusiast from Pěkov. The start and finish of this 111-kilometre race with a total elevation gain of 3290 metres is in Teplice nad Metují, and the route goes around the Teplice and Adrspach Rocks, over the Broumov Walls and through the table mountains of Bor and Ostaš.

It is probably the most difficult mountain bike marathon in the Czech Republic. The race route is marked all year round with a light blue triangle in a yellow square in agreement with the KČT and the Administration of the Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area and is demanding not only in terms of length and altitude, but also in terms of technical difficulty, especially on the descents.

MHFF Teplice nad metují

The International Mountaineering Film Festival (MHFF) Teplice nad Metují is the oldest and largest gathering of the mountaineering community in the Czech Republic and the most important festival for all outdoor enthusiasts. The history of the festival dates back to 1980, when climber Míra Šmíd organised the first, so-called Year Zero. He drew inspiration from the Western world, from where he brought back unique films, materials and climbing trends he had seen behind the Iron Curtain.

The festival became the only event in the then Czechoslovakia where the entire climbing community could meet. After Míra Šmída's death, its activities were temporarily suspended, but in 1992 the festival was reactivated by the town mayor Radek Myška together with climbing legend Tomáš Čada, thus starting the modern era of the MHFF. Since then, the festival has become an annual celebration of the climbing community. Since 1992, the MHFF has been organised by the city of Teplice nad Metují.
