Hejšovina
The highest peak of the Table Mountains on the Polish side of the border, visible from the Broumov Walls — a cross-border trip just a short way from Vila Marcelka.
The highest peak of the Table Mountains
Velká Hejšovina (Polish: Szczeliniec Wielki, 919 m) is the highest peak of the Table Mountains on the Polish side of the border and one of the most beautiful views you'll see on the horizon from the lookouts of the Broumov Walls. Its maze of rock towers with a viewing terrace is easily reached even as a day trip across the border into Poland.
Over 600 stone steps, built at the end of the 18th century by builder Franciszek Pabel, lead up to the summit plateau. Along the way you'll pass named rock formations such as the Hen, the Mammoth or the Camel.
The Pekélko crevice and rock labyrinth
Along the way you'll peer into a crevice called Pekélko, where thanks to a special microclimate snow can linger until mid-June. The rock towers at the summit form an impressive labyrinth, with a circular viewing trail offering views into both Czechia and Poland.
The starting point is usually the tourist centre of Karłów, with parking and small refreshment stands, from where a marked trail leads all the way to the summit.
