Janovičky ski area
The ski area lies near Heřmánkovice, about a kilometre from the Polish border. It offers more than a kilometre of snowmade slopes groomed every day, mainly suited to families with children but enjoyable for more advanced skiers too.
There is a ski school, equipment rental, a snack bar and free parking. In the season the lifts run daily from 9:00 to 16:00, and on Wednesdays and Saturdays also in the evening from 18:00 to 21:00. For current operation and snow conditions see skijanovicky.cz.
Cross-country skiing and more winter tips
The Broumov region has dozens of kilometres of groomed cross-country trails linking the areas around Machov, Teplice nad Metují and Police nad Metují all the way to Karłów in Poland. More winter tips are on our Surroundings page.
A winter stay at Vila Marcelka
You can store skis and other sports equipment in the lockable garage, and parking at the villa is free. The slope is about 5 minutes away by car, and in the evening you come back to peace and quiet.
The Blue and Pink Rooms sleep 1–2 people, the Turquoise Room 1–3 people. The price is CZK 750 per person per night including the local tourist tax.
